Kannama: Beyond the Lines and Rhymes
Kannama: Beyond Lines and Rhymes is a musical homage to the legendary Indian poet and writer Bharatiyar, featuring the premiere of five original orchestral pieces inspired by his works on love, politics, and revolution. These compositions are woven together through an engaging radio show narrative, hosted by emcee Jing Yi How.
The concert also marks the debut of Singapore's first-ever Indian contemporary fusion ensemble, the Singhanagara Orchestra and Choir, blending Indian classical and folk instrumentalists with a dynamic chorale section.
Led by the artistic vision and direction of award-winning flautist Niranjan Pandian, and under the show direction of Gildon Choo, this performance offers a fresh and innovative interpretation of Bharathiyar's timeless legacy. Supported by the National Arts Council (Singapore) and the Tamil Language Learning and Promotion Committee, this historic concert is presented by Brahmastra Arts House.
